October 8, Australie (Snow Hunter)--Australia has had a relatively good winter with early falls starting the season off well, followed by a cold July allowing resorts to make snow consistently.Ý The warm weather has only arrived in the past week in most of the resorts.Ý The only hiccupo was a storm damaging buildings at three leading ski areas in September.
Mt Hotham reported visitor numbers up 10% overall in July when a number of record days were set, and accommodation bookings up 15% across the season to date.
Whilst most Australian ski areas have now closed Perisher Blue traditionally remains open until the end of school holidays on October 13th.ÝÝÝ Thredbo may extend its season because of higher than average snow depth and quality for the time of year.
