THE FWT HAKUBA EVENT TO BE RESTAGED LATER THIS SEASON
The decision has been taken to postpone the Freeride World Tour (FWT) Hakuba event and hold it during one of the three next FWT events.
FWT has decided not to hold the competition in Hakuba on Saturday 27th of January, last day of the event weather waiting period. The reason that the organizers made this decision is safety. The competition venue presents some areas with variable and icy conditions which could be dangerous for riders. FWT is aiming at staging FWT Hakuba at one of the next FWT stops in either Kicking Horse Golden, BC (Canada) , Vallnord-Arcalís (Andorra) or Fieberbrunn (Austria).
« Safety is priority number one for Freeride World Tour, and sometimes, we must renounce when mountain conditions are not favorable. Our stay in Japan and our collaboration with the Hakuba Local Organization Committee has been fantastic, and we are looking forward to coming back next year. » Nicolas Hale-Woods, FWT CEO.
« We highly respect the decision that FWT made not to hold the competition in Hakuba as safety is always the first priority. We strongly believe we will have a Freeride World Tour competition next year here in Hakuba and show the best of this region through the incredible lines that all the riders will make. »
Fumitoshi Ohta, FWT Hakuba Local Organization Committee President.
