Pero este cuerpo militar destinado a luchar en las montañas tiene unos orígenes bastante mas antiguos, ya 18 siglos antes existían según documentos hallados por los historiadores, tres Legiones entre las filas del ejercito Romano, entrenados especialmente para luchar en las montañas y la nieve.
Su seña de identidad y su insignia es la tipica prenda de cabeza tocada con una pluma llamada: "Il Capello Alpino" y que fue usada por primera vez en Mayo de 1.910.
But its origins are much older. There are documents dated 18 centuries earlier which reveal that the Roman army had three legions trained to fight in mountains and snow.
The 'Alpini' identity sign is a kind of hat with a feather. It is called 'Il Capello Alpino' and it was first used in May 1910.
This corps took part in the Grande Guerra on the Dolomites and also in the II World War.
Of course, they are great skiers.
