Burley, Maryland, and Connecticut Valley tobaccos are air-cured. Maturity of the living plant is judged by color, and plants are ripe when the leaves change from dark green to light green to yellow. In air-curing cul-tures, growers harvest the entire plant. Stalks are cut at the bottom, laid on the ground, and allowed to wilt. The stalks are then spiked-or pierced near the bottom with a metal tool-and sticks are inserted through the stalks. Typically, five or six plants are hung on a stick. Some Burley growers hang the tobacco sticks on outdoor racks to hasten curing, but most Burley is barn-cured. After spiking, growers carry the plants to the curing barn and hang them in tiers, leaving air spaces in between.

  Acabo de llegar después de una semana de sky y aunque nevó el jueves noche todavía tiene muchas piedras. Esperemos que nieve mas, tengan mas espesores y puedan abrir mas zonas

  PAQUETON el que se ha llevado sierra nevada gente! el tejado del al - andalus sepultado bajo la nieve, arboles tumbados por la nieve y las pistas con una nieve espectacularmente buena. el sabado se viene abajo eso, hacedme caso, esta nevada toda la sierra entera, la carretera, todo. espectacular se ha llevado de una vez lo que no se habia llveado en toda la temporada
