El turismo crea continuamente nuevos empleos. Eduard Gertsch y su amigo Fritz Graf están considerados como los fundadores del primer servicio de rescate en las pistas de Wengen, desde 1928 hasta 1970. Era un servicio necesario, porque cada vez más clientes británicos se lesionaban mientras esquiaban y luego tenían que ser transportados al médico en un trineo canadiense.
Los dos hombres compartían todas las propinas que les daban. Una vez, después de que Eduard Gertsch transportó él solo a un inglés lesionado, su amigo reclamó su parte. “Por supuesto”, respondió Eduard Gertsch, de todos conocido por su sentido del humor, “qué parte prefieres, el ‘muchas’ o el ‘gracias’?
Tourism continually created new occupations. Eduard Gertsch and his friend Fritz Graf are recognised as having founded the first rescue service on the Wengen pistes, from 1928 until 1970. This was necessary because an ever increasing number of British guests were injuring themselves while skiing and had to be transported to the doctor by Canadian sledge.
The two men shared all tips received and once, after Eduard Gertsch alone had transported an Englishman, his friend asked for his share. "Of course" said Eduard Gertsch, well-known for his humour , "Which half would you like - the thank or the you?"
